Garmin Candy

Our Company received the first Garmin G1000 equipped Grand Caravan last month. Prior to this one the last Grand Caravan delivered was the last off the Cessna production line with ‘steam gauges’ or traditional instruments.

The Garmin G1000 ‘glass cockpit’ is quickly becoming the gold standard these days, it is now standard fit in all Cessna propller aircraft and their Mustang Light Jet as well as aircraft from numerous other manufacturers. Converting to this type of instrumentation will be a bit of learning curve but the amount of data that it provides and the way in which it is displayed will make operating the plane a lot easier and safer in the end.

So more study it is, thankfully we have the Flight Safety Caravan G1000 training manual which is pretty comprehensive. Although for now the command upgrade study is more than enough to keep me busy.
